I am now awake on a bright and sunny Saturday morning. I had cereal for breakfast, just finished scrubbing my working clothes to make sure they are really clean for work and I am heaving a sigh of contentment as I hear the whirring of the washing machine doing its work.
I think on the whole yesterday was a good experience on the whole. Thinking further about it, if there is indeed damage done, it will stay in the room amidst my immediate co-workers. From what I gathered through conversations, it appears that each school knows awfully little about the other schools except for urban legends (aka gossips) that leak out of the school gates. Like for example how some schools have end-of-semester vacations and some don't. And how upon hearing that news some co-workers looked envious, while some looked abhorred that such a thing is permissible. Let's not start on the jealous comparison of schools and the purported types of students as well. That is common in my home country, admittably so the story is the same.
So whatever that happens will stay in the room quite likely, except for huge issues like the person before me who created huge problems in all the schools before he left. I sometimes can empathise with how he feels, really. Especially knowing how difficult it seems to loosen Japanese workplace rules to at least meet mid-point with workplace rules of other cultures.
While I guess I miss possible future opportunities to hang out with other teachers who might have been warming up to me before tonight's debacle, I guess it is for the better. Why play guessing games!
Haha now who is saying who should stop playing guessing games?
What to do this weekend? There is the school festival which I was thinking of skipping, really, but I guess since laundry's working out so well I do get the chance to go after all. And I should since it is the last time the school is having a school festival and I can take lots of pictures with nice students. Not that I will be chummy with my co-workers by doing this.
Oh well!
